"All is well with AOL only if you never question
their policies and let them push you around."

July 11, 2001

AOL cancelled our account and said it was due to lack of payment. I was so surprised since they have been billing our credit card automatically for a couple of years. The card is current and it is not maxed out or anything. Our bank, insurance, and satellite company don't have any trouble billing us via the credit card.
Prior to the disconnect, they had been asking for any new personal information. There wasn't a selection for "no new information" and I didn't have the time to fill out all new information. Anyway, I didn't and a few weeks later they disconnected us.

Not one to overlook an excellent opportunity to make a positive change in life, I changed internet providers. This has been a pleasure but recently dimmed by some letters from AOL. AOL has sent past due notices in the mail and the most recent one says that our account is past due in the amount of $45.85. They go on to say that we need to pay in order to "clear our name, restore our credit status with AOL and avoid further collection activity.

I called AOL to inquire about the threats in the letter and was told that "AOL doesn't send threatening letters". When I tried to further discuss the situation it became clear to me that the manner in which they prefer to deal with a dissatisfied customer is in an aggressive manner against anyone that dares to make a request. All is well with AOL only if you never question their policies and let them push you around.

I am never, repeat never going to use AOL service again. The customer service reps think that you work for them and heaven forbid that you should question the almighty AOL. I am going to tell anyone that will listen how I feel about AOL.

Keep up the good work.
This is an unsolicited email sent to us by a former AOL customer.
Her name will be kept anonymous to prevent reprisals, lawsuits, steam rollers, threats, torture, bogus billing, and other forms of persecution by AOL.
